It is very sad that Lakhwinder Kaur was forced to remove her ‘Kada’ and ‘Kirpan’ before entering the examination hall. The way the fundamental right to practice one’s faith is being violated by the Rajasthan government is reprehensible. The delay of Rajasthan Chief Minister Bhajan Lal in reacting to this insult against the Sikh community and taking strict action against the guilty examination staff has hurt the sentiments of the entire community. Sikhs should not be made to feel like second-class citizens in their own country, for which they have sacrificed the most.
