Amritsar DC Sakshi Swahney inspects Heritage street corridor, car parking; directs to maintain cleanliness

Amritsar: Keeping in mind the needs of the pilgrims coming to Sri Darbar Sahib, Deputy Commissioner Sakshi Sawhney directed the officials of the departments involved in the maintenance of its surroundings to go to the spot and take necessary steps and make all the roads to Sri Darbar Sahib, including the corridors, litter-free. Amritsar: Keeping in mind the needs of the pilgrims coming to Sri Darbar Sahib, Deputy Commissioner Sakshi Sawhney directed the officials of the departments involved in the maintenance of its surroundings to go to the spot and take necessary steps and make all the roads to Sri Darbar Sahib, including the corridors, litter-free.

DC Sawhney herself saw the condition of car parking, bathrooms, roads, encroachments by shopkeepers, and streets and instructed all the departments to bring comprehensive improvements to it.

The Deputy Commissioner said that this is currently her first visit and she will now take a summary of the ward on this route every two months. The Deputy Commissioner said that Sri Darbar Sahib is not only our big pilgrimage, but also the main reason for increasing religious tourism in the city. The tourism industry here is flourishing due to the pilgrims coming to visit Sri Darbar, so it is duty to take care of its surroundings.

She said that it is duty of every pilgrim, and shopkeepers who come here to visit this holy place to keep this place clean. She issued an instruction to the Amritsar Development Authority for cleaning the corridor and said that she instructed to issue a tender to award this work to an eligible company.

The Deputy Commissioner observed the dilapidated condition of the main parking lot and the Amritsar Development Authority and the officials of the contractor working here took serious note of the roads leading to it, the lack of lights in the complex, the dirt scattered everywhere, the bad condition of the bathrooms.  She also instructed to clean the idols in the heritage street and take care of the plants. On this occasion SDM Mankanwal Singh Chahal, CA ADA S Darbara Singh, Tourism Officer Sukhmandeep Singh, and other officials were present.
