Amritsar, July 21: Unknown assailants opened fire on a lawyer in Jandiala Guru in Amritsar district on Monday morning. The victim, identified as Lakhwinder Singh, was going from his home to the Amritsar court.
Three youths who were already waiting in ambush on the way fired indiscriminately at his car. The lawyer was seriously injured in the attack and was immediately admitted to a hospital in Amritsar for treatment. In the initial investigation, this case seems to be a well-planned conspiracy.
Police engaged in investigation
At present, the reason behind the firing is not clear. In the initial investigation, neither any old rivalry nor any matter related to ransom has come to light. As soon as the information about the incident was received, Jandiala police reached the spot and started investigation. Police is scanning the footage of nearby CCTV cameras and efforts are on to identify the attackers.
The accused will be arrested soon
DSP Ravindra Singh of Jandiala said that the accused will soon be identified and arrested. He also said that a case is being registered on the basis of the statement of lawyer Lakhwinder Singh and the investigation is being carried forward rapidly.
