Amritsar MC elections: 841 booths set up, EVMs to be sent today

811 booths have been set up for the 85 wards of the Municipal Corporation, out of which 300 have been declared sensitive and 245 have been declared very sensitive.

Amritsar: The Punjab Election Commission has made all the preparations for the Municipal Corporation, Nagar Panchayat, and Municipal Council elections to be held on December 21 in Amritsar. EVM machines will be sent to all the booths in the district today. A total of 841 booths have been set up by the district administration to conduct the civic elections.

The counting of votes will also be done here after the voting. Additional District Election Officer and Additional Deputy Commissioner (Rural Development) Paramjit Kaur, while giving information, said that a total of 811 booths have been set up for the 85 wards of the Municipal Corporation, out of which 300 have been declared sensitive and 245 have been declared very sensitive.

He said that elections are being held at 13 booths for 13 wards in Baba Bakala Sahib, 1 booth each in Rai and Majitha, where all the booths have been declared sensitive. Similarly, 13 booths have been set up for 13 wards in Rajasansi and 2 booths for 2 wards in Ajnala. Overall, elections will be held in 115 wards of the district.
