Amritsar News: Licenses of 2 chemists cancelled due to recovery of drugs

During the ongoing investigation by the local authorities during the war against drugs launched in the district under the leadership of Deputy Commissioner Mrs. Sakshi Sahni on the instructions of Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann, the licenses of two drug shops from which drugs were recovered have been cancelled.

Giving this information, Kulwinder Singh Zonal Licensing Authority said that the investigation of M/s Dhunna Medical Store, Mudhal Colony, Verka was conducted jointly by Mr. Sukhdeep Singh Drugs Control Officer and the police on April 11. During the investigation, 820 tablets of Tramadol were recovered and its owner Shamsher Singh failed to produce the purchase record and permission to stock the Tramadol medicine. A separate FIR has also been registered against him under Section 22 of the NDPS Act. After issuing a show cause notice to the firm and following the due process laid down under the Act, the retail sale licenses of the firm were cancelled today.

He said that similarly on April 3, the shop of Baba Deep Singh Ji Medical Store, Kot Mit Singh was inspected by Mrs. Bablin Kaur and eight types of medicines including Pregabalin-300 were seized. The said shopkeeper also failed to submit the purchase record of the seized medicines. A separate FIR was also registered against him at Sultanwind police station for violating the orders of the District Magistrate. After giving a show cause notice to the firm, the retail sales licenses of the firm were cancelled today.

It is important to mention here that the Drugs Wing FDA Amritsar has conducted 78 inspections in the last one month, in which medicines worth about Rs. 71 lakh have been seized, including 1.60 lakh capsules and 1.55 lakh tablets and 5 shops have been sealed, 6 FIRs have been registered against defaulters and the licenses of 3 chemists have been cancelled.
