Another encounter in Tarn Taran Firing between police and drug smuggler, arrested

Tarn Taran: News of an encounter between the police and a drug smuggler is coming out in Tarn Taran. The drug smuggler was shot in the leg in the return fire when the accused fired. The police have arrested the accused. The police have recovered a 32 bore pistol from the drug smuggler. The accused has been identified as Lovekaran Singh, a resident of Bakipur. The accused has been admitted to the Civil Hospital for treatment. The encounter is said to have taken place around 3 am.

Giving information about this encounter, DSP Kamalbir Singh said that several cases of NDPS, Arms Act and theft have already been registered against the accused. A month ago, he had opened fire on Sachkhand Road, in which case he was wanted.

Based on information, the police had set up a special blockade to arrest him. When they tried to stop him at the checkpoint, he hit the motorcycle of the police personnel and fled from there. When he was signaled to stop at the second checkpoint, he fired at the police and tried to escape from the vehicle.

In the retaliatory firing by the police, he was hit in the leg by a bullet. He has been admitted to the Civil Hospital for treatment. The DSP further said that during the firing by the accused, a bullet grazed the turban of ASI Gurdeep Singh and went out. He said that an illegal pistol and an i20 car have been recovered from the accused. The accused used to smuggle drugs in Tarn Taran.
