ASHA workers protest at DC office in Ludhiana

ASHA workers said that the government's decision to retire Asha workers at 58 years old is against the their rights.

Ludhiana: Asha workers have protested against the government on Tuesday in Ludhiana, Punjab. A large number of Asha workers demonstrated outside the DC office today. They raised slogans against the Punjab government.

Asha worker chief Rajveer Kaur said that no Asha worker will boycott work. We have to struggle to meet our demands. She said that the government’s decision to retire Asha workers at 58 years old is against the their rights. She said that the government should withdraw this decision soon.

Rajveer said that a demand has been made to the administration that they should be made to meet Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann during the Jalandhar by-election. He has also given a demand letter to the officials in this regard. If they are made to meet the Chief Minister, then it is fine; otherwise, all Asha workers will go to Jalandhar.

He said that he has demanded that the retirement age be increased from 58 years to 65 years. At the same time, an appeal was made to increase the allowance of Asha workers from Rs 2500 to Rs 5000. During the protest, Asha workers warned that if the government did not pay attention to their demands, they would intensify the struggle and stand firm on their demands.
