Assam Dibrugarh jail superintendent arrests in helping Amritpal Singh; spy cam and phone recover

Superintendent of Dibrugarh Central Jail, Assam, Nipen Das has been arrested on Friday (08 March). The jailer has been accused of helping Amritpal Singh and his associates belonging to the radical organization Waris Punjab De. A few days ago, electronic devices including smartphones, spycams were recovered from these cowries.

The official said that the jail officer was arrested in the early hours on charges of “laxity” and is currently in Dibrugarh Sadar Police Station. Last month, several electronic devices were recovered from the cells of Assam’s Dibrugarh Central Jail, where prisoners arrested under the National Security Act (NSA) are kept.

On the arrest of Nipen Das, Superintendent of Central Dibrugarh Jail, SP Dibrugarh Rakesh Reddy says, “A few days ago, a search was conducted inside the jail, where we found mobile phones, remote with keypad, and other devices inside the jail premises. Based on that case, we have started an investigation and we have collected some technical data also…we found that there is a nexus between the jail officials, especially the Superintendent and others, and for this reason, we have registered a new case and arrested him (Nipen Das) today…”

He had turned his smart tv into a video conference device by installing appa like zoom and was holding conference calls with his WPD members from across the world. Some of these were Chacha Baghel singh in US and Pippal singh in Australia
It is learnt that Amritpal has been operating his worldwide networks through jails very easily.
