Amritsar, July 14: A major road accident took place at Attari Wagah in Gharinda area of Amritsar yesterday evening at 8 pm. A speeding car hit a tractor-trolley. Three people travelling in the car died on the spot in the accident. Three people travelling on the tractor were injured. They are still serious and are undergoing treatment.
According to the information, the deceased include Vikram Singh (18), Manish Kumar (35) and Kamalpreet Singh (25), grandson of Khasa Petrol Pump owner Avtar Singh. Vikram Singh was driving the car. The speed of the car was 170 km per hour. The collision was so severe that the car was shattered into pieces and even the tyres of the trolley were torn apart.
Only son, father is dead
Vikram Singh, who died in the incident, was the only son of his father. His father has already passed away. Kamalpreet Singh was also the only son of his parents. He used to work as a gas filler at Khasa Indian Petrol Pump and was unmarried.
Family members staged a sit-in outside the post-mortem house
Gharinda police sent all three bodies to the postmortem house of GNDH. The relatives of the deceased staged a sit-in protest outside the postmortem house. They refused any legal action and demanded the return of the bodies.
Family does not want any action
According to Gharinda SHO Amolakdeep Singh, at the time of the accident, the three youths were going from Khasa Petrol Pump to Attari. The post-mortem of the three bodies has still not been done. The families are still adamant about not taking any action and the bodies are lying in the mortuary. At present, the police will take a decision in this matter only after permission from the ADM.
Relatives demand return of dead body
On the other hand, deceased Manish Kumar’s brother Vijay Kumar said that Manish has a son and a daughter. Manish used to fill diesel at a petrol pump. There is an atmosphere of mourning in the family due to his death. They want Manish’s body, which the police are not giving them. They said that whatever was to happen has happened and now they do not want any action to be taken, the body should be handed over to them.
