Barnala: Soldier on leave dies of heart attack

His cremation was performed in a somber atmosphere.

Barnala: An army soldier who was on leave died due to hear attack in village Hamidi of Halka Mahal Kalan in Barnala district. According to information, Naik Balwinder Singh Ranu (52) son of Bhagwan Singh DSC was posted in the Army and had come to the village on leave a few days ago.

He suffered a heart attack yesterday, due to which he lost his life. Giving information, the brother of the deceased, Jaspal Ranu, said that Balwinder Singh had joined the 61 Engineer Army in 1993 and retired after 18 years of service.

After this, he again joined the DSC Army of the Indian Army in 2013. At present, he was posted in Bathinda Cantonment.

His cremation was performed in a somber atmosphere. On this occasion, a contingent of soldiers from the Bathinda unit of the Indian Army saluted with their weapons reversed.
