Chandigarh, May 15: The technical committee meeting of the Bhakra Beas Management Board (BBMB) will be held on Thursday. Chief Engineers of Punjab, Haryana and Rajasthan will participate in it. Chief Engineer of the Central Water Commissioner will also participate in the meeting. During this, water will be allocated to the three states in the month of June.
On the other hand, it has become almost clear that Haryana will not get additional water till May 20, because the next hearing of the case in the Punjab and Haryana High Court is on May 20. Whereas, from May 21, Haryana will start getting water for the next year.
Punjab government gives 60% amount
When the Punjab government asked BBMB for the details of the expenditure incurred in the past years, one thing became clear that the entire cost of repairing the Nangal Hydel Channel is being borne by the treasury of the Punjab government. Between the years 2010-11 and 2022-23, Rs 32.69 crore was spent on the repair of the Nangal Hydel Channel.
Punjab’s share in this was Rs 15.87 crore, while Haryana and Rajasthan’s share was Rs 16.82 crore. But these states did not pay it. CM Mann has already said that he pays 60 per cent of BBMB’s amount. But BBMB is standing against us. Why should we pay like this?
