Big gift for Punjabis as Air India Express to start new flights from Amritsar

Air India Express is starting two new flights from Sri Guru Ramdas Ji International Airport on December 27, which will connect Amritsar directly with Bangkok and Bengaluru.

Amritsar: Punjab’s air connectivity is set to get a major boost on the arrival of the year 2025. Air India Express is starting two new flights from Sri Guru Ramdas Ji International Airport on December 27, which will connect Amritsar directly with Bangkok and Bengaluru.

Fly Amritsar Initiative Global Convener Sameep Singh Gumtala and Convener Yogesh Kamra said that these new flights are a New Year gift for Punjab’s air connectivity and Punjabis and will attract more international and domestic tourists.

As per the released schedule, the flight from Bengaluru will depart at 5:55 am and reach Amritsar at 9:20 am. The return flight from here will depart at 11:30 pm and reach Bengaluru at 2:45 am the next morning. Similarly, the flight from Amritsar will depart at 10:40 am and reach Bangkok’s Swarnabhumi Airport at 5:00 pm.

The return flight will depart from Bangkok at 6:00 PM and arrive in Amritsar at 9:30 PM. The flight service to Bangkok and Bengaluru will operate four days a week on Mondays, Wednesdays, Fridays and Sundays using Boeing 737 Max 8 aircraft. Thai Lion Air has been operating direct flights to Amritsar from Bangkok’s Don Mueang Airport four days a week since October 27.

With the new flights by Air India Express, there will now be a total of eight flights per week between Amritsar and Bangkok, providing more options to passengers and potentially reducing fares with more competition.
