New Delhi: Big news has come out about the Kartarpur Sahib Corridor. Days after the visit of FM S Jaishankar to Pakistan, India and Pakistan have extended the agreement for the next five years regarding the Sri Kartarpur Sahib Corridor. External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar has shared this information. In a post on X, he said that the “India and Pakistan have renewed the agreement on Sri Kartarpur Sahib Corridor for the next five years. PM @narendramodi’s government will continue to facilitate our Sikh community’s access to their holy sites.”
The press release issued by the Ministry of External Affairs said, “It has been agreed between India and Pakistan through diplomatic channels to extend the validity of the Agreement on Sri Kartarpur Sahib Corridor for a further period of five years.”
The Agreement between India and Pakistan was signed on 24 October 2019 to facilitate the visit of pilgrims from India to Gurdwara Darbar Sahib Kartarpur, Narowal, Pakistan through the Kartarpur Sahib Corridor, and was valid for a period of five years. Today for another fiver years the pact between two nations has been renewed.
The Extension of the validity of this Agreement will ensure uninterrupted operation of the Corridor for use by pilgrims from India to visit the holy Gurdwara in Pakistan, said release by MEA.
It is further said that in view of the continued requests of pilgrims regarding the removal of the USD 20 service charge levied by Pakistan per pilgrim per visit, India has once again urged Pakistan to not levy any fee or charges on the pilgrims.
Kartarpur Sahib Gurdwara is known as Gurdwara Darbar Sahib. It is an important religious place for Sikhs, as Guru Nanak spent the last years of his life here. Guru Nanak lived here for 16 years. Later Guru Nanak left his body at this place. After this Gurdwara Darbar Sahib was built here.
This place falls in Narowal district of Punjab, Pakistan. This place is 120 km from Lahore and just three km from India-Pakistan border.

Dera Baba Nanak is a city situated in Gurdaspur district in the state of Punjab, India. Followers of Sri Guru Nanak Dev Ji built the town and named it Dera Baba Nanak after their great ancestor.
