Bathinda: In Guru Kashi University located in Bathinda, Punjab, some students entered the hostel and attacked students from Bihar with sharp weapons. It is alleged that more than 22 local students entered the hostel. They also accused the university administration of collusion.
Bihar Deputy CM said- Punjab has become a stronghold of hooliganism under the AAP government
Regarding this, Bihar’s Deputy CM Samrat Chaudhary has targeted the AAP government of Punjab. Samrat said-
The deadly attack on students of Bihar in Guru Kashi University of Bhatinda, Punjab is highly condemnable. Many youths of Bihar have been injured in this incident. Punjab has become a stronghold of hooliganism under the Aam Aadmi Party government. AAP-DA party has worked to increase caste and animosity towards other states in Punjab. I demand that the Punjab government should immediately provide security to the students of Bihar and take strict action against the culprits.
VC said- groups of students from Bihar have clashed with each other
University Vice Chancellor Dr. SK Bawa said- ‘This fight did not happen between Punjabi and Bihari students. Only two groups of Bihari students clashed with each other. In which one group involved local friends. The university has identified the students of both the groups and all the students will be restricted.’
It is not yet clear when the incident took place. This was revealed when students from Bihar posted on social media and appealed to the Punjab and Bihar governments for help.
Students demanded security:
In view of these incidents, students have asked the university administration on social media to investigate the matter seriously and take necessary steps to ensure their safety.
Such incidents have happened before as well Earlier in January 2023, an incident of assault on students of Bihar was reported at Baba Banda Singh Bahadur Engineering College in Fatehgarh Sahib, in which more than 6 students were injured.
Besides this, there was also an incident at Guru Nanak Dev University in August 2023 where hundreds of students protested after a security guard slapped a girl student.
