Chandigarh : Punjab Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) will also brainstorm on the Lok Sabha election results tomorrow (Saturday). For this, the party has called a meeting of the core committee. All the candidates contesting the Lok Sabha elections, BJP leaders, district heads will be present in it.

This review meeting is being considered important. Because in this, a strategy will also be made for the assembly by-election to be held in Jalandhar West. Senior BJP leader Rakesh Rathore said that the meeting will be led by BJP President Sunil Jakhar, BJP in-charge Vijay Rupani, co-in-charge Narinder Singh Raina, Srinivasulu General Secretary Organization.

Even after defeat, it increased vote percentage

After the assembly elections held in the state in 2022, BJP also contested the Lok Sabha elections alone. Because due to the ongoing farmers’ movement in the state, it could not form an alliance with the Shiromani Akali Dal (SAD). After this, BJP had its candidates on all 13 seats. Although the party did not win even a single seat, it has now come third in the state in terms of vote percentage.

The vote share of the party has now increased from nine percent to about 19 percent. While now SAD has reached the fourth position. However, now Congress is at the first position and Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) is at the second position.

Five candidates’ deposits forfeited

If BJP and SAD had contested the Lok Sabha elections together this time, then both the parties could have got five seats. Because the number of votes received by the candidates of both the parties on these seats is much more than the winning candidate.

These seats include Gurdaspur, Ludhiana, Patiala, Amritsar and Ferozepur. While five BJP candidates’ deposits have been forfeited. These include Manjit Singh from Khadoor Sahib, Parampal Kaur from Bathinda, Hansraj Hans from Faridkot, Arvind Khanna from Sangrur and Gejja Ram from Fatehgarh Sahib.
