Blow to BJP in Jalandhar as former Senior Deputy Mayor Kamaljeet Bhatia joins AAP

The switch to AAP from BJP has come days ahead of the by-poll in Jalandhar West.

Jalandhar: In a major blow to Bhartiya Janta Party in Jalandhar, former Senior Deputy Major Kamaljeet Singh Bhatia switched to AAP. He joined Aam Aadmi Party in the presence of Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann. The switch to AAP from BJP has come days ahead of the by-poll in Jalandhar West.

On the joining of Bhatia in AAP, AAP Punjab shared a picture of Bhatia along with CM Mann. The post on X said, “In Jalandhar @BJP4Punjab
suffers big blow. Former senior deputy mayor from Jalandhar and senior leader of BJP Punjab Kamaljit Singh Bhatia joined AAP. CM @BhagwantMann inducted him in the party.”

This is a big setback for BJP before the elections, because Bhatia was considered very close to Sheetal Angural and former MP Sushil Kumar Rinku and a large vote bank in the West constituency was with Bhatia. In such a situation, his joining AAP ten days before the elections has come as a big setback to BJP.
