Body of young woman found in Chandigarh river: investigation underway

The dead body could not be identified; earlier, the body of a young man was found in the area of Punjab. 

Chandigarh: The body of a young woman has been found in the Rao River of Patiala near the Khudda Lahora bridge in the Chandigarh area. The dead body has not been identified. As soon as the information was received, Chandigarh Police took the body into its custody and kept it in the mortuary of Sector-16 hospital.

At the same time, information about this has been sent to all the police stations and neighboring states. It is suspected that the car and the body of a young man named Sandeep, which was recovered from the Rao river of Patiala in Nayagaon, Punjab, a few days ago, could be his companion. Because eyewitnesses had told the police that a young woman was riding with the young man in the car.

Today, on Thursday, some dogs were roaming in the Rao River of Patiala. When the passersby passing by saw it, they saw the body of a woman. They immediately informed the police about this. The police reached the spot and investigated. The body could not be identified as it was floating in the river water.

A similar incident took place here on 6 July 2022. A taxi passing through here was swept away by the strong current of water. In which a young woman named Pooja from Pinjore and taxi driver Rakesh Kumar from Muktsar died.

After the accident, the bodies of both of them were recovered from Dhanas village in Chandigarh, about 12 km from the spot. Similarly, on 13 August 2022, a couple from the village of Tanda was swept away in this river. In this, Sajjan Singh and his wife Sunita died. The bodies of both of them were also found far away from the village.
