Sukhbir Singh Badal has officially been removed as the chief of the Shiromani Akali Dal. The resignation he submitted earlier has now been accepted by the party leadership. This comes in the wake of mounting controversies and challenges faced during his tenure. Today during the SAD working committee meeting Sukhbir Singh badal’s resignation has been accepted.
The Shiromani Akali Dal party has officially removed Sukhbir Badal from his position as party chief, effective immediately. This decision comes after Badal had previously submitted his resignation. After giving resignation Sukhbir Singh Badal has appointed senior party leader S Balwinder Singh Bhunder as Working President of the party
Approximately three months ago, Sukhbir Badal faced a religious punishment. Giani Raghbir Singh, the Jathedar of Sri Akal Takht Sahib, labeled Sukhbir as a ‘Tankhaiya’ for his actions.
Badal was accused of several controversial decisions during his tenure, including forgiving Dera Sacha Sauda chief Ram Rahim, appointing Sumedh Saini as DGP, and failing to take action regarding the desecration of Sri Guru Granth Sahib.
In his verdict, Akal Takht Jathedar Giani Raghbir Singh stated, “While serving as the Akali Dal chief and Deputy Chief Minister, Sukhbir Badal made several decisions that harmed the Panthic image. The Sikh community suffered significant consequences. Sikh cabinet ministers who served from 2007 to 2017 should also be prepared to explain their actions.”
