Bus returning from protest rally overturned; 32 farmers injured

32 farmers including a woman were injured this accident out of which, 9 farmers were seriously injured while 22 had sustained minor injuries.

Amritsar: A Bus full of farmers returning from the Shambhu Border met with an accident near Raia, Amritsar. The farmers of Kisan Mazdoor Committee were returning from a protest rally at Shambhu Border. On the competition of 100 days of Farmers Agitation 2.0, a protest rally was called by the farmer leaders.

In a major incident, bus full of farmers overturned near Raia, Amritsar last night. The accident took place around 8 pm in the night. The information about the accident was given by state president of the organization Sukhwinder Singh Sabra and state general secretary Rana Ranbir Singh.

Sarwan Singh Pandher, district president Ranjit Singh Kaler Bala and district secretary Gurlal Singh Mann said that total 32 farmers including a woman were injured this accident out of which, 9 farmers were seriously injured while 22 had sustained minor injuries. One woman also had minor injuries.

He said that the injured were taken to the hospital by private vehicles and ambulance till late night. Seriously injured are undergoing treatment at Guru Ram Das Hospital, Othia. Forums of farmers have demanded that compensation should be given to injured farmers and entire cost of treatment should be borne by Punjab Government.

Farmer leaders also demanded that assistance of Rs 3 lakh each to severely injured and Rs 1 Lakh each to mildly injured should be given to farmers by Government.
