Bus services to remain suspended in Punjab, Contract staff announce 3-day strike from today

PUNBUS and PRTC Contract Employees Union, which are fighting for their demands, had prominently raised the demand of regularizing contract employees by submitting a memorandum to the ministers across Punjab last month.

Chandigarh: The government bus service in the state will be disrupted for 3 days. Due to this, this service will be disrupted in Jalandhar today, tomorrow, and day after tomorrow. This decision was taken in a meeting held by PRTC and the PUNBUS Employees Union a few days ago. PRTC and PUNBUS Employees Union have announced a protest regarding their demands in front of the Chief Minister’s residence in Chandigarh.

Due to this, those traveling in government buses may have to face a lot of trouble on 6, 7 and 8 January. PUNBUS and PRTC Contract Employees Union, which are fighting for their demands, had prominently raised the demand of regularizing contract employees by submitting a memorandum to the ministers across Punjab last month.

In this connection, last month the employees of Jalandhar Depot 1 and 2 met Cabinet Minister Mohinder Bhagat and various MLAs of Doaba at their residence.

The delegation that reached the residence of the cabinet minister was led by Pradhan Bikramjit Singh, Satpal Singh Satta, Jasbir Singh, senior leader Chanan Singh Channa and others. The union officials handed over a memorandum to Mohinder Bhagat and apprised him of the demands of the union.

After handing over the memorandum to the minister and MLAs, the union also addressed at the local bus stand. Bikramjit Singh said that due to the delay in regularizing the temporary employees, the union is being forced to blow the bugle of struggle.
