Bus stands to remain shut for two hours tomorrow across Punjab, Read to know why

Various unions of Punjab Roadways employees have announced that all the bus stands in the state will be closed for two hours on Thursday, April 3.

Jalandhar: A big announcement was made by the union in Jalandhar today (Tuesday) regarding the demand of making permanent the temporary employees of Punjab Roadways in Punjab. Various unions of Punjab Roadways employees have announced that all the bus stands in the state will be closed for two hours on Thursday, April 3.

Along with this, on April 6, 7, and 8, there will be a complete strike by the temporary employees working in the roadways. Union leaders said that in the budget presented by the Punjab government, there is no such announcement in that can ensure that our temporary employees will be made permanent.

Union leader said – The government ignored the demands, so the announcement was made

Punjab Roadways Punbus and PRTC Contract Workers Union President Resham Singh Gill said that, for a long time, we have had many demands from the Punjab government, including making the employees permanent. We have also discussed with former Chief Minister Sardar Prakash Singh Badal, Captain Amarinder Singh and now CM Sardar Bhagwant Singh Mann.

He said, “It has been three years since we started talking to this government. We also held small protests, but nothing came of it. We first thought that the mothers and sisters of Punjab should not face any trouble due to our strike. But the government did not listen to us at all. Due to which we had to make this announcement.”

He also added that they have demanded the purchase of ten thousand new buses from the Punjab government.
