Chandigarh: The new excise policy has been approved in the cabinet meeting of the Punjab government. For the new year, the government has set a target of raising Rs 11,200 crore from the excise policy. This time liquor contracts will be allotted through e-tendering.
At the same time, changes have also been made in the registration of birth and death certificates. If the child is not registered within one year of birth, the family will no longer need to go to court and get an order passed. This work will now be done by the Deputy Commissioner.
Now, if a person dies due to a disease, the doctor will have to write the cause of his death in the death certificate. This information was given by Punjab Finance Minister Harpal Singh Cheema after the cabinet meeting. He also said that a fine of Rs 5,000 to Rs 5 lakh will be imposed on those who pollute water.
Apart from this, new excise police stations will be established to stop liquor smuggling. Permission was given to form a committee for this. This committee will decide where these police stations will be opened.
Approval for recruitment on 3 thousand posts
Earlier, the Punjab Cabinet had held a cabinet meeting on February 13 after the Delhi election results. This meeting was held after four months. The meeting lasted for about four hours. In this meeting, a decision was taken to recruit for about three thousand posts.
Along with this, the proposal to call a special session on 23 and 24 February was approved. Now the session has ended. The draft of the agricultural marketing policy issued by the central government has also been cancelled in the session. In such a situation, now the government will try to connect people. However, at that time questions were raised on calling the meeting late.
Now the focus will be on Ludhiana elections
The government’s focus will now be on the by-election to be held in Ludhiana West. Although it is believed that the party which is in power in the state wins the by-election. But after the defeat of Aam Aadmi Party in the Delhi elections, the opposition parties will try to completely surround them.
The Election Commission has not yet announced the date of election on this seat. But the party has declared Rajya Sabha MP and industrialist Sanjeev Arora as its candidate from here. In such a situation, it is believed that proposals related to Ludhiana can also come up in the meeting.
