Abohar: Under the campaign being run to make Fazilka district drug-free, the Anti-Narcotics Cell Abohar and BSF team have succeeded in arresting four people travelling in a car with about 1.5 kg of heroin during a blockade yesterday.
The city police station has registered a case under the NDPS Act. After interrogating the arrested youths, drug money worth 8 lakhs and a tractor and trolley have also been recovered.
According to the information, ASI Manjit Singh, in charge of the anti-narcotics cell in Abohar, along with his team and the employees of the BSF 55 battalion, reached Abha Library via Hanumangarh Road from Agrasen Chowk. Four youths were sitting in an i10 car parked there and were searched based on suspicion, and 1 kg (560 grams) of heroin was recovered from the car. On which the police took them into custody and confiscated the car. The arrested youths have been identified as Jaswinder Singh, alias Sonu, son of Jagseer Singh, resident of Burjmuhar Colony Abohar; Amanpreet Singh, son of Balveer Singh, resident of Noorshah Fazilka; Gurjeet Singh, son of Mangal Singh; and Gurwinder Singh, son of Kulwant Singh, resident of Anupgarh district, Ganganagar.
The four arrested accused were presented in court by Judge Satish Kumar Sharma. From there, all four were sent on police remand. Police officials said that many revelations could be made during the remand. After all, from where did these people bring such a huge amount of heroin, and where was it to be supplied? At present, the police are interrogating the arrested smugglers.
