Electricity Board JE helds hostage in Hoshiarpur

He had gone with the team on the complaint of supply shutdown, got released at 11 pm.

Hoshiarpur: A case has come to light in which the JE and other team of the electricity department who reached the spot on the complaint of power supply being cut off in Dasuha of Hoshiarpur were held hostage till 11 pm. Dasuha police has registered a case of hostage taking and abuse against eight people including a woman in this case.

The accused have been identified as Karna son Swaroop Singh, Rakesh Kumar son Gurbachan Singh, Rohit, Chindu son Vijay, Shindu and his wife, Jaswant Singh, Rajpal Singh. The police is conducting raids to arrest the accused.

According to the information, power supply was cut off in Digi Mohalla of village Dadiyal in Dasuha. On the complaint, JE Barindra Singh along with his other staff went to the village to restore the supply.

On reaching there, the villagers started abusing the JE and kept him hostage till 11 pm. When the senior officials of the electricity board got this information, they reached the village and got the JE and other staff released who were held hostage.

After which a report was filed against the villagers by the JE in the Sansarpur outpost of Dasuha police station. On the other hand, investigating officer ASI Balwant Singh said that on the basis of the complaint, a case has been registered against the accused under sections 353,186,506,342 including obstruction in government work. The accused will be taken into custody soon.
