Sangrur: A case has come to light in Sangrur, Punjab, where a young man upset with his wife committed suicide by jumping into a canal near village Nadampur. Two days after jumping into the canal, the body of the person has been recovered from the canal near Bhattiwal. The deceased has been identified as Soma Singh, a resident of Lahragaaga. The police have registered a case on the complaint of the deceased’s wife and started further action.
According to the information, Malkit Singh, a resident of Lahragaaga, in a complaint to Bhawanigarh police, said that on August 14, his son Soma Singh called him and told that his wife Amandeep Kaur keeps quarrelling with him, due to which he is very sad and now he does not want to live, so he will jump into the canal.
Complainant Malkit Singh said that after some time Soma Singh’s phone got switched off. On reaching the spot, Soma Singh’s bike was found parked on the banks of the Nadampur canal. After informing the police, the family started looking for Soma Singh. Meanwhile, Somi Singh’s body was found near the canal bridge near the village of Bhattiwal on Friday.
Investigating the case, ASI Jasvir Singh of Kalajhar police station said that the deceased Soma Singh was married for the second time to Amandeep Kaur of Bhawanigarh. Based on the statements of the deceased’s father, the police have registered a case against Soma Singh’s wife, Amandeep Kaur, a resident of Sangatsar Nagar Bhawanigarh, and started an investigation.
