Challenge to Punjab’s excise policy; question on making the application fee 75 thousand rupees

The Excise Policy of Punjab Government 2024-25 (Punjab Government 2024-25) has been challenged in the Punjab-Haryana High Court.

Chandigarh : The Excise Policy of Punjab Government 2024-25 (Punjab Government 2024-25) has been challenged in the Punjab-Haryana High Court. The petition has raised questions on increasing the application fee for allotment through draw to Rs 75,000 and making it non-refundable. After the debate on the petition on Friday, the High Court has now fixed the hearing on April 10.

75000 rupees by suddenly increasing the application fee

While filing the petition, M/s Darshan Singh & Company of Moga told the High Court that the Punjab government has decided to allot contracts for 2024-25 through draw.

The petitioner said that till a few years ago the application fee was only Rs 3500, but it has suddenly been increased to Rs 75000. The rule regarding the application fee also stipulates that if the allotment is not made then this amount will not be refunded.

Appeal to cancel this policy of the government

The petitioner said that so far the government has received about 35 thousand applications, from which the government has received an income of 260 crore rupees.

Due to government policy, those whose names will not appear in the draw will lose Rs 75,000 from their application fee. The petitioner said that the huge increase in application fee is not only wrong but also against the principles of justice.

In such a situation, an appeal has been made in the High Court that this policy of the government should be rejected.
