Chandigarh Roadways employees protest: CTU surrounds the director office

The pending promotions of drivers and conductors should also be done as soon as possible.

Chandigarh: The Chandigarh Government Transport Workers Union protested on Tuesday in Chandigarh. In this protest, the director’s office has been surrounded by drivers and conductors. At the same time, if the demands are not met, a big protest has been warned for the 30th.

During this, the effigy of the director and Chandigarh administration will be burned. The employees allege that the officers talk of action after listening to the demands.

Chandigarh Government Transport Workers Union chief Jaswant Singh said that he has been demanding from the administration for a long time regarding his demands. But the administration is not paying any attention to it. He demands that if the driver and conductor go outstation, then their night allowance should be at least ₹ 800. The deduction of overtime under the pretext of 48 hours a week should be stopped.

If a driver or conductor works overtime, he or she should be paid instead of being given leave. Traffic is increasing every day inside Chandigarh city.

But the running time of local buses has not been increased by CTU. This should also be improved. The pending promotions of drivers and conductors should also be done as soon as possible.

On the other hand, a strike was held recently by the drivers of electric buses to implement the DC rate. Drivers and conductors should be paid separately for the day of the national holiday. Now these drivers and conductors of CTU will hold a big demonstration in Chandigarh on July 30.
