Chandigarh: Newly appointed Mayor of Chandigarh Kuldeep Kumar assumed charge of Mayor today here at the Chandigarh Municipal Corporation office.
Earlier Kuldeep Kumar was to assume charge on February 26 but because of his personal reasons the program was cancelled.
Kuldeep Kumar, mayor candidate of AAP-Congress became mayor of the Chandigarh MC following the judgement given by Chief Justice of India DY Chandrachud.
Earlier, on January 30, BJP candidate Manoj Kumar Sonkar was declared mayor after 8 votes of AAP were declared invalid. SC in its verdict declared all 8 votes valid and ordered fresh counting.
Today after assuming the post, Kuldeep Kumar briefed media. He extended gratitude towards media for taking the issue because of which he is on the chair of Mayor today.
He assured that good work for the betterment of people of Chandigarh will be done in a similar way the government led by AAP is doing in Punjab and Delhi. He thanked AAP supremo Arvind Kejriwal, Punjab CM Bhagwant Mann, Pawan Kumar Bansal, councillors, and all senior leaders who stood by him in this battle.
