With the release of the notification for the mayor election, DC Nishant Yadav visited the Municipal Corporation office.

Chandigarh: The election of Mayor, Senior Deputy Mayor and Deputy Mayor of Chandigarh Municipal Corporation will be held on 24th January. The administration has issued a notification for the election. This time nominated councilor Ramnik Bedi has been appointed as the presiding officer. Voting will be done through secret ballot only. The nomination process will be done till 20th January.

With the release of the notification for the mayor election, DC Nishant Yadav visited the Municipal Corporation office. He also inspected the hall of the Municipal Corporation where the election was to be held. During this, he has made a strategy for everything from installing cameras to other things.

However, last year the matter of the corporation election had heated up. The battle of the election reached from the High Court to the Supreme Court. After the decision of the Supreme Court, the AAP and Congress Alliance was successful in making the mayor.

This time too the atmosphere is heated regarding the Municipal Corporation election. Aam Aadmi Party and Congress argue that the tenure of the current Mayor Kuldeep Kumar should be till 19 February 2025, because the Supreme Court had finalized the mayor election by giving an order on 20 February 2024. However, voting for the mayor was held on 30 January 2024. Leaders of both parties said that if elections are held before 20 February, they will go to court.
