Chandigarh: New Criminal Laws will come to effect from July 1

The law will change in Chandigarh from July 1. In this, changes will be seen in many sections of the Indian Panel Code (IPC). Because from July 1, the laws of Indian Justice Code, Indian Civil Defense Code and Indian Evidence Code 2023 are being implemented.

In this, instead of section 302 of IPC which was applied in the case of murder till now, section 101 of Indian Justice Code Law 2023 (BNS) will now be applied. Chandigarh Police has made full preparations for this.

There will be a change in these sections

According to information received from police sources, till now section 376 of IPC was applied in the case of rape. But now action will be taken under section 64 of BNS 2023. Till now the police used to take action under section 304A of IPC for death in road accident. But now action will have to be taken under section 106 of BNS.

Similarly, in the case of robbery, action was being taken under section 392 of IPC till now, but now this action will be taken under section 309 (4) of BNS. In the case of snatching, action was taken under section 379A of IPC till now, but now this action will be taken under section 134 of BNS 2023.
