Ludhiana: Jalandhar MP Charanjit Singh Channi was issued a notice by the Women’s Commission on his derogatory remarks on women and two communities. The remarks were made by Charanjit Channi during the campaign for Congress candidate Amrita Warring from the Gidderbaha seat. Taking action against the remarks, the Women’s Commission had ordered MP Charanjit Channi to appear personally by 11 am today. A show cause notice has also been issued to Jalandhar MP by Women’s Commission.

In the video circulated on social media, Channi is heard talking about a conversation between two dogs, one owned by a Jat and the other by a Brahmin. Comparing the lifestyles of the two communities, he said that Jats had two wives. Gill told the media everyone had seen the video.

The remarks made by Jalandhar MP and former CM of Punjab have drawn heavy criticism from opposition parties including AAP and BJP. BJP while condemning said that use of such language is inappropriate, the party strongly condemns it in the harshest terms. AAP Minister also objected the use of words by Channi for two communities of the state.
