His comments, made on April 7 during the Siksha Kranti Program, drew sharp criticism from teachers across the state, who have threatened protests starting Friday.

While addressing the gathering at the school, Chetan Singh Jauramajra criticized the teachers, stating, “You talk big. no child even listens to you. whoever is outside, his absence should be marked. This is not a school; there is no such thing as a school in it.” He also questioned the number of teachers present, blaming their absence on poor discipline and threatening to report the matter to the Chief Minister and Education Minister.

The comments led to an uproar among the teachers, who voiced their opposition immediately. Chetan Singh Jauramajra, recognizing the backlash, issued an apology, stating, “My intention was not to hurt the teachers. They are worthy of our respect. They are our Gurus. I apologize to the teachers of the entire Punjab.”

The incident sparked a political debate, with opposition parties joining the criticism. Education Minister Harjot Singh Bains, however, has expressed support for the teachers, emphasizing respect for their role in education.

The controversy has put Chetan Singh Jauramajra in the spotlight, as teachers demanded an official response and threatened to take their protests statewide starting Friday.
