Ludhiana: A violent clash erupted late at night over the distribution of Langar at the historic Hanuman Temple located at Daresi ground in Ludhiana. 4 people were injured in the confrontation between members of Shri Ram Leela Committee and the Bala Ji Mitra Mandal.
Aarti Chitkara, a member of the Shri Ram Leela Committee, shared that she has been organizing langar at the temple every Tuesday and Saturday for the past eight years. However, for the last month, the head of the committee and other members have allegedly stopped her from serving langar. She claimed that the committee’s head, Dinesh Marwaha, instructed her to get written approval from all committee members before organizing the langar, which she argued was unnecessary since no such permission had been required in the past.
According to Chitkara, a heated argument broke out with the committee members on Saturday night, which escalated into physical altercation.
The woman said that no permission is required to organize langar in the temple and no one gave any permission here. On Saturday night, she had an argument with the members of the temple committee regarding this matter which suddenly turned into a scuffle.
On the other hand, Shri Ram Leela Mandir Committee chief Dinesh Marwaha said that the temple committee has its own rules and regulations. It is necessary to take permission from everyone to organize langar in the temple. Keeping in mind the cleanliness and sanctity of the temple, there are orders to distribute langar outside the temple.
Last night some people attacked a member of the temple committee after which the situation worsened. Some people are adopting such tactics with the intention of capturing the temple. A complaint in this matter is being lodged with the police of Thana Division Number 4. The temple committee will fully cooperate with the police in the investigation.
After getting information about the ruckus in the temple, Shiv Sena Punjab leader Bhanu Pratap also reached the spot with his colleagues. Bhanu said that sacrilege is being done in the temple. He will also file a complaint at his level against those who have violated the sanctity of the temple.
