Chandigarh: Amid the strike Arhtiyas (Commission agents) and Labourers, Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann met with the commission agents (Arhtiyas) today. After the meeting, initial remarks were made, and CM Mann assured Arhtiyas that every demand would be fulfilled.
CM Mann added the demands of the Arhtiyas (commission agents) will be raised before the Center. It is demanded that the Center should pay the outstanding amount of RDF.
Moreover, the central government has to pay 192 crores of Arhtiyas’ fees. The Chief Minister also discussed the issue of paying 50 crores of outstanding EPF
CM Mann added that the Punjab government is ready to fight a legal battle with FCI if their demands are not met.
After the meeting with Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann, the strike has been withdrawn by Arhtiyas. The commission agents said that the Chief Minister has assured them that if the Centre does not give 2.5 per cent commission to the commission agents, then the Punjab government will compensate for it. On this condition, the commission agents called off their strike and will return to work from tomorrow.
