Today once again the Meteorological Department has issued an alert regarding a cold wave in Punjab-Chandigarh. The effect of fog has been seen in many districts of Punjab. Visibility has reached zero in Amritsar and Pathankot. Due to this the air and rail route have been badly affected.
The flight coming from Milan to Amritsar landed 2.43 hours late. Not only this, but due to low visibility before landing, the flight had to circle in the air for half an hour. Along with this, the Indigo flight coming from Mumbai also kept circling in the air for about 25 minutes.
Due to no sunshine yesterday, the day temperature of the entire state is still 1.8 degrees below normal. But the coming two days are going to be full of relief. But the weather will change once again from January 4 and there are chances of rain again in the state.
According to the Meteorological Department, the situation in Chandigarh is going to be normal and the weather conditions here will be normal. Meanwhile, an alert has been issued regarding the cold wave in Punjab’s Ferozepur, Fazilka, Faridkot, Muktsar, Moga, Bathinda, Barnala and Mansa. The situation will remain normal in other districts and the Meteorological Department has not issued any warning for any other district.
Another western disturbance is getting active on January 4. It will affect the plains as well as the western Himalayan hills. On January 4, light rain is expected in Amritsar, Pathankot, Gurdaspur, Tarn Taran and Hoshiarpur in Punjab.
At the same time, there are chances of rain in most areas of Punjab on January 5-6 as well. If this western disturbance gains strength, it will be the first rain of the year. At the same time, in the month of December, Punjab has received 126 percent more rain than normal. Usually, 10.9 mm of rain occurs in the month of December, but this year so far 24.7 mm of rain has occurred.
