Khanna: A truck driver died in a road accident on the National Highway in Khanna, Ludhiana, Punjab last night. He got stuck in the cabin of the truck in the accident. He was taken out with the help of a crane and a tractor. The body has been sent to the government hospital for post-mortem. The police is investigating the matter.
According to the information, Balwinder Singh, a resident of Gurdaspur, was going from Ludhiana to Khanna with a truck full of liquor. When he reached near Beja Chowk, his truck collided with another truck going ahead. Due to this, the front cabin of his truck was completely damaged. Balwinder Singh could not get out and died after getting stuck in the cabin.
On receiving the information about the accident, Road Safety Force Sub Inspector Sukhdev Singh reached the spot with his team. The help of a crane and a tractor had to be taken to remove the body of driver Balwinder Singh, who was stuck in the cabin of the truck in the accident. Investigation revealed that the truck going ahead was within the prescribed speed limit, while Balwinder’s truck was moving at a high speed.
Due to the accident, traffic on the National Highway remained affected throughout the night. The Road Safety Force team was engaged in rescue work throughout the night and the road could be opened for traffic at three in the morning.
