Chandigarh: The Punjab and Haryana High Court has demanded an explanation from the Punjab government regarding the delay in filing an FIR against Punjab Police officers accused of attacking Army officer Colonel Pushpinder Bath. Justice Sandeep Moudgil, hearing the case, issued notices to the state government and the CBI, highlighting the seriousness of the allegations against senior officers.
The court also raised several key questions, including Why the FIR was delayed despite medical reports and why a medical alcohol test was not conducted on the police officers involved.
Colonel Bath, who has called for a CBI investigation due to concerns of bias and delays in the local police inquiry, claims that on March 13, four police officers and their associates attacked him and his son without provocation. The local police allegedly ignored calls for help and instead filed a false FIR based on a third-party complaint. The court has given the state government two days to respond to the demand for CBI investigation.
