Chandigarh: Congress has made its strategy to win the battle of elections for five municipal corporations and 43 municipal councils in Punjab. The party has decided that by Sunday, the final list of names of the candidates willing to contest from all places will be sent to the State Screening Committee. On the other hand, the tickets will be distributed by next week in those places where there will be no other candidates.
In the screening committee meeting held in Chandigarh, party chief Amarinder Singh Raja Warring made it clear that the elections are very important for them. He cleared that the name should be sent only if the candidate has the ability to win the election.
There are many such wards in municipal corporations, from where only one application would have come. There is no other competitor there. Tickets for those areas will be distributed by next week.
When the elections were held last time, the party was in power, but this time the situation is different. Therefore, the party will not only consider the names of the winners but also those who had applied for the ticket last time or contested the election independently.
The party is also preparing data on how many votes the party got in which ward in the 2024 Lok Sabha elections. The party is trying to win these elections because after this, the 2027 assembly elections will be held directly.
