There is a meeting of the Municipal Corporation’s Finance and Contract Committee (F&CC) in Ludhiana, Punjab, today. 386 proposals will be discussed in the meeting. There can be uproar between the ruling and opposition parties regarding the irregularities in the tenders. This meeting can be uproarious due to many big and controversial issues.
There is a possibility of uproar in the meeting regarding transparency of tenders, plantation, new appointments and big funding schemes. This meeting is mainly related to works related to sewerage, tubewells. Some tenders have come with 5 to 10 percent discount while some have come with up to 40 percent discount, which the members of the anomaly committee do not like. Today, the corporation officials are likely to be cornered on this.
The proposals also include the suggestion of recruiting more than 200 new employees on DC rate. They will be engaged in tasks like taking care of plants on the central version, but this can cost the corporation an additional Rs 25 crore.
At the same time, preparations are also being made to remove tubewell operators. There are more than 1 thousand tubewells in the city, on which operators are employed. These operators get a salary of 3100 per month. Now a proposal has been put in the committee to remove 180 old operators and appoint new ones.
The Municipal Corporation has decided to extend the agreement with Friendicos SECA Company for sterilization of stray dogs for another year. This agreement, which was to end in June, is being extended because the Municipal Corporation does not have data on the exact number of stray dogs that have not been sterilized.
Officials claimed that the Animal Husbandry Board was to survey the stray dog population, but they have not yet shared the data with the Municipal Corporation.
A proposal in this regard will be placed for approval in the upcoming Finance and Agreement Committee (F&CC) meeting.
