Jalandhar: The court is set to announce its verdict today, Friday, 28 March, in the case involving Pastor Bajinder Singh, who stands accused of sexually harassing a woman from Zirakpur. Bajinder Singh, known for claiming to perform miraculous healings, appeared in court on Monday, after which the verdict was reserved.
Bajinder Singh, who has been named in a rape case involving the victim, is also facing charges alongside six other individuals- Akbar Bhatti, Rajesh Chaidhary, Sucha Singh, Jatinder Kumar, Sitar Ali, and Sandeep alias Pehlwan. they have been charged under sections 376 (rape), 420(cheating), 354(outraging modesty), 294 (obscene acts), 323 (causing harm), 506 (criminal intimidation) 148 (rioting), and 149 (unlawful assembly) of the Indian Penal Code (IPC) Bajinder Singh has already been arrested in connection with these allegations.
The Victim, who had worked under Bajinder Singh at his Church, accused him of molestation and sending obscene messages. She claimed that Bajinder Singh made her sit alone in a church cabin, where he misbehaved with her. The case was registered based on her complaint.
The controversy further intensified when a video, filmed on 14th february, went viral on 16th March, showing Pastor bajinder Singh slapping a woman in his Chandigarh office. The woman, a resident of Mohali, had reportedly worked for Bajinder Singh before the incident.
In the video, Bajinder Singh is seen physically assaulting her and previously throwing a copy at her face.
In response to these incidents, Kapurthala Police formed a SIT to probe the case, and the victim’s statement has been recorded as part of the investigation.
The Court’s decision today will be crucial in the ongoing legal proceedings against the pastor and his co-accused.
