Crackdown on drugs: Jalandhar Commissionerate police arrest two, 15 quintals of poppy recovered

Commissionerate Police has arrested three accused Guravatar Singh alias Tari, Des Raj and Daler Singh alias Dalora along with 14 quintals of poppy.

Jalandhar: The Jalandhar Commissionerate Police has arrested two more persons involved in poppy smuggling and recovered a total of more than 15 quintals of drugs from them.

Giving information in this regard, Joint Commissioner of Police Sandeep Sharma said that the Commissionerate Police has arrested three accused Guravatar Singh alias Tari, Des Raj and Daler Singh alias Dalora along with 14 quintals of poppy.

He said that case number 226 dated 15.11.2024 under 15/61/85 NDPS Act was registered against the accused. Joint Commissioner of Police Sandeep Sharma said that during the investigation, two more accused Joga Singh son of Kuldeep Singh resident of town Mohalla Mehtpur Jalandhar and his partner Lucky son of Ajmer Singh resident of village Mand Chaunta Punj Koom Kalan Ludhiana have been identified.

Joint Commissioner of Police Sandeep Sharma said that the accused have been arrested by the police along with one quintal of 40 kg poppy and one country pistol 01 live rounds.

He said that so far a total of 5 accused have been arrested and a total of 15 quintals of 40 kg of poppy, two vehicles, a country pistol and a live gun have been recovered. Joint Commissioner of Police Sandeep Sharma said that the case is being investigated further and details will be shared later.
