Daylight Violence in Amritsar as shooters open fire at NRI, treatment underway in hospital

Amritsar: In a shocking case of daylight violence, A case of an NRI being shot at after breaking into his house has come to light in Amritsar, Punjab. Two persons entered the house in Daburji, Amritsar at around 7.30 am and shot him in front of the family. At present, the victim is injured and has been admitted to a private hospital for treatment. The incident was captured in the CCTV installed in the house. The police reached the spot and seized the CCTV and started investigation.

The injured has been identified as Sukhchain Singh, who lived in America. NRI Singh returned a month ago and now the shocking incident has left everyone in shock. ADCP Harpal Singh said that the incident took place around 7.05 am. Two youths came on a bike and entered the house. As soon as they entered the house, the accused started demanding to show the papers of his Mercedes car. When Sukhchain opposed this, the accused showed the weapon and took Sukhchain Singh inside.

The person with pistol fired 3 shots from the pistol. Out of which 2 bullets hit Sukhchain Singh. The accused wanted to fire more bullets at Sukhchain, but their weapon got stuck. Sukhchain’s wife said that at the time of the incident, there were 5 people in the house including two children and an elderly mother. The younger children kept begging to leave their father. But the intention of the accused was to kill him. When the weapon got stuck after three shots, the accused fled from the house.

They immediately brought Sukhchain to the hospital. At present, his condition remains critical. Police have collected the CCTV footage and an investigation is being carried out from every angle possible.
