Chandigarh: No solution was found even in the sixth meeting held in Chandigarh between the agitating farmers and the Centre. In the meeting that lasted for two and a half hours, the farmers remained adamant on the demand for a guarantee of minimum support price (MSP). They presented the figures before the Centre. Now the next meeting will be held in Chandigarh on March 19.

After the meeting, Union Agriculture Minister Shivraj Singh Chauhan said- ‘The meeting was held in a good atmosphere. We put the priorities of the Modi government in front of the farmers. We also listened to the farmers. The farmers have their data and the central government has its own data. Both the data will be combined.’

On the other hand, the farmers have a program to march to Delhi on 25 February. Farmer leader Sarwan Singh Pandher had said that if a solution is not found in the meeting, then there will be a march to Delhi. Farmers can take a decision regarding this today.

Minister said – Central agencies will take data from farmers

Shivraj Singh Chauhan said that the farmer groups presented some figures in support of their demands. On the basis of these figures, they justified their demands. The data included data of purchase quantity, purchase price and market price of various crops. Different opinions emerged on these figures.

The data provided by the farmers’ organizations did not match the data of the central government, so the ministers inquired about its source. Then it was decided that the central agencies will take this data from the farmers in the next few days and it will be discussed again on March 19.
