Discussion grows on oath ceremony of Amritpal Singh, Amritsar DC to write letter to LS Speaker

After the permission of the National Investigation Agency (NIA), Kashmiri leader Sheikh Abdul Rashid alias Engineer Rashid, who is in jail in the 2017 Jammu and Kashmir terror funding case, will also take oath tomorrow

The Punjab government had sent an application to Lok Sabha Speaker Om Birla to administer the oath to Amritpal Singh, the MP elected from Khadoor Sahib. Now there is talk that pro-Khalistan leader Amritpal Singh can take oath the day after tomorrow i.e. on Friday (5 July).

After the permission of the National Investigation Agency (NIA), Kashmiri leader Sheikh Abdul Rashid alias Engineer Rashid, who is in jail in the 2017 Jammu and Kashmir terror funding case, will also take oath tomorrow. In such a situation, there is a buzz that Amritpal will also be sworn in tomorrow. He will take this oath in the Speaker’s room. Abul Rashid also has to take an oath. He has been given the green signal by the agencies and the government. However, neither Amritpal’s lawyer nor the family has any such information about this.

Amritsar Deputy Commissioner (DC) Ghyan Sham Thori will decide on Wednesday regarding the status of the application of newly elected MP Amritpal Singh for temporary release from jail to administer the oath of Parliament. The Punjab government has authorized him to take the decision.

Khalistan supporter Amritpal Singh’s lawyer Rajdev Singh Khalsa said ” We do not have any information about this at the moment and neither does any family member know anything about this. No information has been given about this in the jail either. Rajdev Singh Khalsa added, Whatever channels are running the news, they are their own sources. We have not been given any such information at the moment.

Elected MP has 60 days to take oath

Khalsa said that an elected member has 60 days to take oath. As far as we know, the Lok Sabha Speaker has not taken any action on the application yet. After the order of getting the name and time of Amritpal Singh as a parliamentarian from the Lok Sabha, he will be given a day parole for a fixed time. He expressed hope that Amritpal can be sworn in within a week.
