Chandigarh: Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann today asked the farmer unions not to unnecessarily irritate the common people by blocking roads in the state.

In a statement issued here today, the Chief Minister said that farmer unions should desist from harassing people unnecessarily, otherwise, people will stand against them. Bhagwant Singh Mann said that for the sake of their personal interests, the unions are harassing the people by blocking the roads due to which the daily life of the people is badly affected, which is a very unfortunate thing. The Chief Minister appealed to the unions that the doors of their office, residence, Punjab Bhawan, Punjab Civil Secretariat, and the office of the agriculture minister are always open for talks.

The Chief Minister said that the farmer unions have adopted an irresponsible attitude by blocking the roads and harassing the common people, which is completely inappropriate and unjustified. He cautioned the farmer unions and said, “If the unions continue to have the same attitude, then the day is not far when they will not find people to protest there.” Bhagwant Singh Mann said that the unions should realize the feelings of the common man and that people should not be harassed with such tactics.
