Dr. Karamjit Singh appointed as 11th Vice Chancellor of GNDU in Punjab

With 38 years of teaching experience, Dr. Karamjit Singh has now been given the charge of Vice Chancellor of Guru Nanak Dev University.

Amritsar: Guru Nanak Dev University (GNDU) has got its 11th Vice Chancellor after 23 days. Earlier Dr. Jaspal Singh was the Vice Chancellor, but the post was vacant since his retirement. Punjab Governor Gulab Chand Kataria has appointed Dr. Karamjit Singh as the new Vice-Chancellor on the recommendation of the Punjab Government. He will take over the post soon.

Dr. Karamjit Singh was the founding Vice Chancellor of Jagat Guru Nanak Dev Punjab State Open University Patiala. He has been serving there since 3 September 2020. With 38 years of teaching experience, Dr. Karamjit Singh has now been given the charge of Vice Chancellor of Guru Nanak Dev University.

In his career, Dr. Karamjit Singh also served as Registrar at Punjab University Chandigarh. He was the Registrar of Punjab University from 30 September 2018 to 2 September 2020.

Talking about Guru Nanak Dev University, apart from the Amritsar campus, there are two separate regional campuses in Jalandhar and Gurdaspur. Apart from this, there are two university colleges, 11 constituent colleges, and 169 affiliated colleges across Punjab. So far 10 vice-chancellors have retired from this university established in 1969.

Talking about the post of Vice Chancellor of Guru Nanak Dev University, was lying vacant for 23 days. MP Gurjit Singh Aujla had also raised the issue that for the first time in the history of the university, the post of Vice Chancellor remained vacant for such a long time.
