DRM Ferozepur suspends 6 officers in case of goods train running from Kathua without driver

Six officers have been suspended regarding this incident

A major accident was averted on Sunday when a goods train running without a locomotive pilot stopped near Uchi Bassi on the Jammu-Jalandhar railway section in Punjab.

Now the first statement of Railway Authority DRM Ferozepur is coming out regarding this incident. During which he said – ‘We have constituted an inquiry committee regarding this incident. All the members of this committee are inquiring about this. The reasons for this incident will be known soon. Six officers have been suspended regarding this incident.’ DRM Firozpur further said that if this train did not stop then this train was to be derailed.

Sub-Inspector GRP Jalandhar, Ashok Kumar said that on receiving information about an unmanned train coming towards Jalandhar from Pathankot direction, the police took steps to secure all rail-road crossings on the Jalandhar-Pathankot section to prevent any possible accident. For this, rapid coordination was made with the railway authorities and security arrangements were made.

Earlier, there was a stir in the Railway Department due to the goods train running without a driver and without a guard. As soon as the information about running of the train was received, the department started planning a scheme to stop the train till Pathankot Cantonment, Chakki Pul, Mirthal, Mukerian, Dasuha, Tanda, Kala Bakra and Bhogpur, Jalandhar.

It is fortunate that the train, which was running without a driver, stopped at Uchchi Bassi near Dasuha. Where the driver of the passenger train controlled the vehicle.
