Drug money case: Vigilance gets Bikram Singh Majithia’s remand for 4 days, next hearing on July 6

In this case, the Vigilance has conducted raids in Punjab, Haryana, Delhi, Uttar Pradesh, and Chandigarh simultaneously.

The remand of former minister and senior Akali leader Bikram Majithia, who was caught in the disproportionate assets case in Punjab, has been extended. Vigilance argued in the Mohali court that Majithia is not cooperating in the investigation. He will have to be taken to other states as well. Therefore, his remand should be extended. Majithia’s next hearing will now be on Sunday, July 6.

The court accepted the bureau’s demand and granted him a 4-day remand. Earlier, the atmosphere had become tense during the hearing in the court. In protest against Majithia’s arrest, Akali Dal chief and former chief minister Sukhbir Badal reached Mohali with supporters. Seeing him coming towards the court, the police surrounded him. After this, he was taken into custody.

Earlier, the Vigilance Bureau on Monday took Majithia to his Majitha house and office in Amritsar for questioning and investigation.

Meanwhile, Majithia has filed a petition in the Punjab and Haryana High Court calling his arrest illegal. Along with this, a demand has been made to cancel the remand order. The High Court will hear this petition on July 3.
