Drug overdose claims life of 30-year-old man in Jalandhar

Jalandhar: A 30-year-old man died of a drug overdose near Raj Nagar in Jalandhar on Friday evening. The deceased has been identified as Rajpal Singh, a resident of Raj Nagar. The police have sent the body for post-mortem. Rajpal’s post-mortem will be conducted by the police today. Rajpal had left the house with 2 thousand.

Rajpal had left the house with 2 thousand rupees from his mother to get treatment for stomach pain but instead the family received the news of his death due to drug overdose.

The deceased’s mother Rita, a resident of Raj Nagar, told that she had gone to work in the morning as usual. Rajpal came home at around 10 in the morning. She was not at home then. Rajpal started telling his wife that he does not take drugs now, his son is in pain due to drugs. Rajpal left the house with 2 thousand rupees. After which his friends told that he was lying unconscious in a plot. Then the family somehow brought Rajpal home. Where he had died.

According to the family, Rajpal was married and had a five-and-a-half-year-old son and a three-year-old daughter. He used to run the household somehow by driving an e-rickshaw. The family said that when he left home, he had taken 2 thousand rupees with him. According to the information, Rajpal’s body was recovered near Kachcha Kot Mohalla.

The family said that 3 of Rajpal’s friends had come home to inform that he was lying unconscious. Rajpal was taken to the doctor by the family for treatment where he was declared dead. After which the police was also informed about this. For investigation, the police of police station Basti Bava Khel reached the spot.
