Search operation in Kapurthala Modern Jail

Mobile phones and other banned items found in barracks, case registered against 8 accused.

Punjab: During the search operation conducted in Kapurthala Modern Jail, the jail management recovered 5 mobile phones, 3 headphones and batteries from the possession of 8 prisoners lodged in different barracks.

The jail management has seized all the banned items and informed the senior officials of the jail and the police station.

The police have started further action by registering 4 separate FIRs against 8 prisoners.

Assistant Superintendent of Jail Gurjinder Singh said that he was searching the barracks of prisoners and undertrials lodged in the jail along with the CRPF team. During this period, the jail management recovered mobile phones, SIM cards and batteries from the possession of undertrial Amandeep Singh resident of village Ali Nangal Gurdaspur, undertrial Kuldeep Singh resident of village Kala Sanghia, undertrial Karan resident of village Navan Pind Bhatte, Ajay Kumar resident of Sanura Bhogpur Jalandhar and undertrial Gurpratap alias Gori resident of village Damulia Bhullath, undertrial Harpal Singh alias Kala resident of Veera Kotli Dera Baba Nanak Gurdaspur, undertrial Yasin Muhammad alias Jasso resident of Sarik Patti Jalandhar and undertrial Iqbal Singh resident of Kore Wala Khurd Moga.

During checking in the barracks, the jail management recovered 5 mobile phones, several headphones and several mobile batteries. The jail management informed the senior officials of the jail and the police station police about these cases. Based on the complaint, the police have registered a case against the accused prisoners.
